Max Owens Design allows me to combine and express my talents and creativity and my love of using natural elements to form something beautiful. With floral as my main medium, I thrive in working with couples (and their vendor teams) and being part of a time that is one of their most memorable.

What I’ve decided in my decade-plus as a floral designer is that there’s so much beauty in the unexpected, whether that’s because of a non-traditional color palette, an interesting bloom, or an installation in an unlikely location. And what continues to inspire me is art in all forms. I draw inspiration from paintings like those by the Dutch Masters, architecture, and interior design. As an extensive traveler, I also find that seeing the world provides a creative spark.

I aim to create an elevated, welcoming atmosphere that will be the ultimate backdrop for a celebration. I use movement in all of my arrangements which makes each of them unique—and because stiff and stale is not my thing. I love creating, whether it’s the smallest boutonniere or a large-scale design over the dancefloor. Everything in between is equally exciting, because to me, there’s something amazing about making something beautiful with my hands using what nature has to offer.

I began my design career in the world of visual merchandising, working with brands such as Barneys New York and Crate & Barrel. I honed my eye in both fashion and interiors, which inherently led me to working in weddings.
